MONDAY PROGRAM

MOTHERS WALKING GROUP
Enjoy a social walk with other mothers in local Mount Eliza streets.  Meet at MENH

MAHJONG GROUP
Enjoy a game of Mahjong or come and learn to play. 
All welcome. 
Time: 9:15am - 12:15pm. Cost: $5 per session

EMBROIDERY AND SEWING GROUP   
Social group of embroiderers. Come for advice or learn how to use your machine.  
Date: 4th Feb to 1st Apr
Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm.  Cost: $6 per session. 

MONDAY SOCIAL GROUP
Enjoy social interactions. Various activities that may include coffee at a local café, gardening, art or cooking. Lunch provided.  Everybody welcome.

COUNSELLING SESSIONS
Come in for a chat and coffee with
Glenn Cleary Dip. COUNS M.A.I.P.C, or a more formal session of counselling.

LINE DANCING FOR ULTRA BEGINNERS with Judy Lou
This course starts with the basic steps and some simple dances to foot tapping music.
Each week brings new progress. A great way to exercise and meet new friends.
Lots of encouragement.
Dates:  Monday 4 Feb - Finish 15 April.
Time 12.30 – 1.30.        Cost $50 – 10 week term

LINE DANCING FOR BEGINNER/IMPROVER with Judy Lou
Participants are to have already completed an ULTRA BEGINNER COURSE,
or to have the BASIC STEPS - Jazz Box, Vines, Pivot turns, Shuffles, Step Locks.
New steps and a little more challenging dances will be offered, plus revision, lots of laughs,
great music in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Dates: Monday 4 Feb - Finish 15 April
Time 1:45pm to 3pm Cost $50 – 10 week term


LIVING WITH GRIEF, LOSS AND CHANGE
This course addresses the discomfort many people experience with grief.  It looks at normalising grief; seeing it as a natural response to many types of losses such as illness, mobility, retirement, divorce, financial loss and death. There will be a focus on learning how to manage grief and live a meaningful life with grief, as opposed to trying to 'fix it.'  In a safe, small group setting members will have an opportunity to share their experiences. 
Tutor, Mary Ellen Smith has a professional background in clinical social work.  The course content is based on her recently published book, Living with Grief, Loss and Change (www.grieflossandchange.com)
Date: Monday 11th March to April 15th
Time: 7pm
Cost: $60 for 6 weeks (minimum numbers required)

APPLE, ANDROID & WINDOWS CLASS
Do you want to be able to use your phone, iPad, tablet, PC or laptop well? Want to know how to protect yourself on the internet against viruses and scams? Maybe you want to know a way to save all those passwords you write onto paper or how to send emails and pictures. You might want to use apps like Facebook or Skype but are not sure how. This course will cover all this and more. Each session also involves you being able to ask the questions you want answers to within a friendly environment.

WEDNESDAY COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP
Our Wednesday and Thursday playgroups will not be running for the remainder of term 1 however we will be starting our new Wednesday Community Playgroup in Term 2.

Wednesday Community Playgroup 
The playgroup will be facilitated by Roh, who will be including story time, outdoor play, craft time or sensory play. We will have snack time so feel free to bring a piece of fruit or vegetable to share (no nuts please).
To attend any of our activities and classes you must be a membership of Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House. Membership is $10.00 per financial year ($5.00 pro rata).

NORDIC WALKING
Learn to walk with Nordic Poles to create a low stress, total body workout. Improve your posture, increase your breathing capacity, with a fun activity.
Suitable for a wide range of fitness levels as classes will be run at the H. Parker Reserve: do 3 or 30 laps
Dates:- 13th, 20th, 27th of February and 6th of March ( as 13th of March as a possibility if we had to cancelled due to extreme weather )

PILATES WITH TRACY
Pilates teaches correct movement patterns and helps to realign the musculoskeletal system.  This is Mat Pilates

Do you feel socially isolated by depression, anxiety, grief or any other type of mental illness?

Gentle, seated workout.  Aerobic balance, left and right coordination movements. Strength, bands and weights to keep those muscles toned.

BOARD GAMES/ WORD PLAY

MOUNT ELIZA MENS SHED
The Shed is open to local men of all ages from 18 and above. It is particularly aimed at those who have retired (partially or fully) from the paid workforce, those who may be between jobs and seeking to re-enter the workforce, or younger men who are seeking to make their first major entry into the workforce.  Current Shed activities include woodwork, small community projects and most importantly socialising over a cuppa.

All sewing abilities welcomed.

The Mount Eliza Men’s Shed currently meets on Wednesday afternoons
(1.00 pm – 4.00pm) and Thursday mornings (9.00 am– 12.30pm).

Men of all ages, not only retirees, are welcome to join us. We are looking for new members – and more sessions! Do you have a special skill or interest you wish to share – or form a new interest group? We are keen to be more than a ‘hammers and nails’ group – so let us know what you would like to do, and we will work with you to make it happen. This is your chance to help our community with special projects  as well as share your interests. Men’s Sheds are a social/mental health initiative –so get out and join us for a cuppa!
